As promised, I am back with more information on Chakras, yesterday I wrote a little about The Root Chakra and how to help you balance, cleanse and keep it free from lingering, negative influences. Today I will be covering The Sacral Chakra, but before I do, I just want to quickly tell you why it is so important to cleanse and balance your chakra.
If a chakra is imbalanced it can shrink in size and the other chakras will expand more than they need to, to help make up the shortfall of energies.
This misalignment of the chakra energy can create damage in the flow or energies and can also manifest a whole lot of spiritual and physical problems for you. This is why it is so important to keep all chakras balanced, cleansed and free of negative influences.
The major chakras are energy centres which are located along the spine, there are seven main chakras and they run from the base of the spine (The Root Chakra) to the top of the head (The Crown Chakra). These energy centres are responsible for the balance in your physical and emotional self. The energies of our chakras can also affect how different events happen in our reality, by unlocking the power of the chakras, you can improve your life immensely.
So, now I’ve covered the basics, let’s move on to The Sacral Chakra.
The Sacral Chakra
The Sacral Chakra is the second chakra in the human body, it holds your creativity, relationships, sexual energy, passion, emotions, expression and productivity.
The Sacral Chakra is located just below your navel, right in the centre of your belly and is located in the lumber spine on your back.
The colour of The Sacral Chakra is orange, some people like to imagine it as a glowing orb, orange energy or a six petalled orange lotus.
If you have an imbalance in your Sacral Chakra. You can experience a lack of creativity, your behaviour could be ruled by depression, aggression, you could be over-sensitive, have high anxiety and fear.
Physical symptoms from not having your Sacral chakra aligned are anaemia, lower back pain, joint problems, hypoglycaemia, kidney issues and low energy.
The Sanskrit for the Sacral Chakra is “Svadhishthana” (which is pronounced Svad-histhana).
How to balance The Sacral Chakra?
Meditation is key in balancing The Sacral Chakra, visualise the colour orange when meditating to help heal and activate The Sacral Chakra, chanting the mantra ‘Vam’ while meditating can also bring balance to The Sacral Chakra.
Exercise, especially dancing is great too! So, get moving!
Essential oils are good to help with balancing The Sacral Chakra, such as patchouli, ylang-ylang, sandalwood, bergamot, jasmine, orange and rose.
Introducing orange into your home or office is a great idea, as this will help heal and help activate the energy flow through to The Sacral Chakra.
As you have probably realised by now that orange is great to have around when balancing your Sacral Chakra, so orange clothes, jewellery is great too!
Water is the element of The Sacral Chakra so go for a swim, or a bath with some essential oils.
Yoga is fantastic for The Sacral Chakra, poses which are great for balancing it are the goddess pose, mountain pose, garland pose, upward dog pose and savasana. A lot of our emotions are stored in our hips so opening exercises will be extremely beneficial.

Food for The Sacral Chakra
To balance you Sacral Chakra, think orange – Carrots, mangoes, oranges, orange peppers, peaches, apricots, sweet potatoes and red lentils and food rich in Omega-3s such a Salmon are a few of the foods you should go for.
